Traditional orthodontic braces involve ‘tying-in’ arch wires with small clear or coloured elastic bands. This process of ‘tying-in’ the wire inherently causes friction between the wire and hence the tooth. This results in slower tooth movement.
However, with the Damon System, these clever little brackets have a built-in sliding door that holds the wire allowing it to move freely in a friction-less system.
This means that we can use high-technology wires to move the teeth comfortably, with fewer visits and in a shorter space of time, a bit-like a surfer riding a wave with Damon Brackets our teeth are riding the smooth wires.
