What is a Dental Implant?
A dental implant is an artificial or fake tooth root that is placed into your jaw to hold a replacement tooth. These are a perfect solution for people who have lost a tooth.
When are Dental Implants needed?
The main reason to consider dental implants is to replace missing teeth. This can be for aesthetic reasons, but its also important to highlight the importance of the maintenance of the jawbone. Bone needs stimulation to stay healthy. Because dental implantsfuse to the bone, they stabilize it and prevent further bone loss.
What is the procedure getting a Dental Implant?
Treatment is normally divided into 3 stages:
- Site is prepared and the Implant inserted. Healing generally take 3 - 5 months depending on the tooth position
- Site is opened up and an abutment placed into the Implant
- A crown is finally used to cover the abutment.
What type of Implants we use
We have been using the ‘Bicon’ Implant System for many years (1997)
The system is simple, reliable and offers restorative flexibility, un-matched by other implant systems.
